Plans to convert a disused church hall into six homes in a Mid Sussex village are to be considered by a council.

The 'in principle' application by Marymount Properties Ltd for the former Methodist hall in Cuckfield Road in Hurstpierpoint will be put to Mid Sussex District Council's planning committee on Thursday.

The council received three objections to the plans, with concerns including overdevelopment, noise and the impact on neighbours' quality of life.

Planning officers have recommended that permission in principle be approved.

The building has not been used for church-related activities since 2023, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The committee will first decide whether the site is suitable for the proposal.

If it is approved in principle, a further application containing more technical details such as a proposed design would be submitted later.
