Van driver arrest after motorcyclist killed in crash

A van driver has been arrested after a motorcyclist died following a crash.

The crash involving a silver Volkswagen transporter van and a blue Honda motorcycle happened on Monday at about 20:30 BST on the Windmill Hill Lane and A30 junction near Leckford, Hampshire.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old man from Andover, died at the scene.

Police said the 45-year-old driver of the van, from Alresford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention whilst unfit though drink and drugs and driving while unfit through drink and drugs.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said he remained in custody.

The force has appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time to get in touch.
