Attempted murder arrest after teenage boy shot

The boy was shot near Westcott Way in Corby

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager sustained a serious gunshot wound.

The 17-year-old boy was injured in Hazel Wood, near Westcott Way in Corby, at about 16:15 BST on Friday.

Northamptonshire Police said the teenager was expected to make a recovery.

The 20-year-old man was arrested on Monday night and remains in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Liz Basham, said: "We have been working around the clock since this incident happened at the end of last week and I hope news of this arrest provides some reassurance to our local community in Corby.

"We would still ask anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward."

She said officers were continuing to carry out "reassurance patrols" in and around the Hazel Wood area.
