A man who stabbed another man in the head during a street fight has been found guilty of attempted murder.

Connor Page, 27, used a knife to stab his victim 12 times during a "sustained and frenzied assault" in Wilford Street, Nottingham, on 23 June 2024.

His victim needed an operation to remove part of the blade from his skull following the attack, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Page, of Metcalfe Close, Derby, was convicted on Monday after a two-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court and has been remanded to appear in court on Friday when a date for sentencing will be set.

'Incredibly distressing'

After fleeing the scene in June, police said Page tried to dispose of the weapon in a nearby car park.

Forensic testing led to his blood being found on the blade's handle, the force added.

Page pleaded guilty to wounding with intent when he appeared in court last October but denied a separate charge of attempted murder.

Det Con Ruth Towle said: "This was a savage and frenzied attack that will have been incredibly distressing for anyone who witnessed it – not to mention the victim, who required surgery but was thankfully not more seriously injured."

She added Page "should count himself very lucky that he wasn't in court facing a different charge of murder".
