Plan to redevelop cafe as holiday lets rejected again

Plans to turn a former seaside restaurant in Jersey into self-catered holiday accommodation have again been rejected by the island's planning committee.
Nude Dunes at La Pulente in St Ouen's Bay has been unused since it closed down in November 2023.
An initial application that sought permission to redevelop the site to include a two-bedroom flat and a cafe was refused last year after more than 100 letters of objection were submitted.
Revised plans for the property, which is located within the Coastal National Park, were unanimously rejected due to concerns about the potential impact on the landscape.

Earlier this year the decision to refuse the initial plans was upheld following an appeal.
In July 2024, about 250 people gathered on the beach near the restaurant to demonstrate against "overdevelopment and privatisation".
The owners had tried to sell the restaurant but said they had not received a high enough offer.
