Rapist who hit victim in face with phone is jailed

An 18-year-old has been jailed for seven years after he attacked and raped a woman in Dorset.
Aydin Kolliari, from Southampton, was arrested on 29 September 2024 after police were called to reports of a disturbance at the Hunters Moon Lodge in Middlemarsh, near Sherborne.
Kolliari was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court after being found guilty at an earlier trial of two counts of rape and five charges of assault by beating.
Dorset Police said the victim reported she had been assaulted by Kolliari, who used her phone to strike her round the face before kicking her and putting his hand to her throat.
It was further reported he then raped the woman.
Kolliari was also found guilty of two counts of intentional strangulation as well as charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
Investigations Officer Florence Winstanley, of Dorset County CID, said: "Thanks to the swift response of officers when this was first reported, we were able to intervene while the victim was being subjected to a violent sexual assault."
She also thanked the victim for her "bravery" in supporting police enquiries and court proceedings.
