Plans to replace factory buildings with homes

Factory buildings could be torn down to make way for new homes in a Leicestershire village.

Developer Elmslodge Construction wants to use a one-acre site in Marsh Road, Mountsorrel, to build 16 semi-detached and terraced homes.

An application for the site, which planning documents say is surrounded by residential properties and gardens, has been submitted to Charnwood Borough Council.

The proposal is to build a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.

The site was previously known as the Marsh Road Trading Estate.

Planning documents submitted on behalf of the developer referenced the importance of redeveloping brownfield sites, particularly in residential areas.

They state: "In this case it is clear that the scheme would give rise to significant social benefits including extending the range of accommodation available in the village."

Existing access to the site in Marsh Road would be used for the development, according to the LDRS.
