Pupils to perform Lady Godiva musical in city

More than 750 primary school children are preparing to perform a musical in a city centre.
Students from across Coventry will gather in Broadgate on Friday morning to perform Lady Godiva's Birthday Suit The Musical, a show inspired by the city's most famous icon.
Coventry author Aaron Ashmore wrote the book that the musical is based on five years ago and said last year he decided to adapt the story into a show in order to help schools promote the area's history.
Mr Ashmore said: "I like to push myself and I think this is about as far as I can push. I can't wait."
He added Friday's performance in the city's main square would be "surreal".
"This is the place that I've been my whole life and suddenly it's becoming a theatre stage for something that I wrote and developed."
The performance is part of the city's Schools' Arts Week and the Royal Ballet will also be joining the students for parts of the performance.
The author said he had originally written the book to "kickstart" how children learned about the city.
"It never fails to make me proud to be able to support young people in the city and this [the play] is a big one."
Violet from Earlsdon Primary School is one of the students who will be taking part in the performance.
"We're going to be doing some singing, maybe some dance moves and it's going to be so much fun," she said.
The 45-minute performance will take place at 11:00 BST at Broadgate on Friday.
