Kayden Moy died after a disturbance at Irvine beach

A second 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Kayden Moy.

Kayden, from East Kilbride, died after a large disturbance on Irvine beach on Saturday evening. He died at Crosshouse Hospital the next day.

The second teenager, from East Kilbride, made no plea when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday.

Another 17-year-old boy appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday also charged with Kayden's murder.

He is accused of assaulting Kayden while in possession of a baton, chasing him, causing him to fall to the ground and stabbing him repeatedly.

Both teenagers have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear again in court within the next week.

Police inquiries are ongoing and officers remain in both Irvine and East Kilbride.

The force has set up an online portal where members of the public can share information directly with the major investigations team.
