Transport Scotland has warned of the potential for about three weeks of delays on a stretch of the A9 south of Inverness.

Temporary traffic lights are to be in place opposite Dalmagarry Farm so that large pipes can be laid as part of project to complete the dualling of the A9 from Inverness to Perth.

The lights will be operated 24 hours a day.

Transport Scotland said: "At peak times, there are likely to be delays and road users are asked to plan their journeys accordingly."

It said the lights would help to make the area safer for road users, and added that pedestrian and emergency access would be maintained at all times.

The pipes are needed for diverting a burn below the A9.

Transport Scotland has previously warned of disruption along the route south of Inverness.

A 60mph speed limit is to be reduced to 40mph for about three years until a six-mile (10km) section between Tomatin and Moy is upgraded to dual carriageway.

A temporary roundabout is also to be in place at Invereen for about the same length of time.
