Up to 40% of the properties in the proposed development are earmarked as affordable housing

A housing developer is set to apply to build a 180-home development on agricultural land in a Leicestershire village.

David Wilson Homes has signalled its intent to apply for outline planning permission for the housing development which would span land the size of 13 football pitches on land south of London Road in Great Glen.

It has submitted documents to Harborough District Council which state 40% of the 180 homes would be classed as affordable, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

A public open space would also be included in the development, which would sit to the west of an existing housing development.

The developer has stated an outline planning application "is being progressed".

The documents currently submitted to the council ask whether an environmental impact assessment (EIA) – which sets out the likely environmental impacts of a project and how they can be mitigated - is needed as part of its application.
