Pop-up cafe to offer advice around cancer concerns

Several educational, health and advice events are to be held in Wolverhampton next month to mark World Cancer Day.

Public health officials, representatives of Macmillan Cancer Support and dermatology specialists will be at a pop-up cafe at the 01902/Urban Rooms unit in Queen Square on 4 February, the city council said.

People will be able to get information on how to check for symptoms of cancer and what to do if they have any concerns.

The University of Wolverhampton will also hold a free online event from 10:00 GMT on the same day, offering advice on palliative care, financial advice and treatments.

At the event in Queen's Square, there will be information about the three main NHS screening programmes - for breast, bowel and cervical cancer - and a chance, using interactive body parts, for people to learn how to check themselves for symptoms.

Visitors will also be offered free blood pressure and blood sugar tests.
