A private mental health hospital is set to open this month in Rhyl enabling patients to access treatment closer to home.

Seren Gobaith Mental Health hospital in Denbighshire said it will offer spaces for local patients previously placed out of the area due to a lack of beds.

The hospital joins four other healthcare facilities in Wales run by private provider Ty Melyn, and will create 250 jobs.

The new hospital, described by the company as the largest of its kind in Wales, will provide 62 beds across five wards, with 24-hour support.

Ty Melyn said it hoped to work closely with the community, using local supplies and working with charities in the surrounding area.
