Police probe wilful fire-raising in Fort William

Officers have asked anyone with any information that could help with their investigation to get in touch

Police have appealed for information after a fire was deliberately started at a property in Fort William.

Emergency services were called to the town's Wallace Place area at 00:50 and the blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

There were no reported injuries, but a number of nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Detectives have urged people to check their private CCTV and dashcam footage and for anyone with information to get in touch.

Det Insp Andy Bilton said: "Fortunately no one was injured but this is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
