A 75-year-old man has died following a collision between the SUV he was driving and a lorry on a major road in Leeds.

The crash, involving a red Toyota land cruiser and a white Renault cement truck, happened on the A63 Selby Road in Micklefield just after midday on Wednesday, according to police.

The road remained closed on Thursday morning as officers continued their investigation into the crash, though it was expected to reopen later, officers said.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, a force spokesperson added.

Police have appealed for any witnesses who saw the collision to get in touch.
