Man arrested after stabbing during burglary

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing during a house burglary that left the victim seriously injured.

Emergency crews were alerted at 01:10 GMT to reports of the break-in on Congleton Road, Biddulph, Staffordshire Police said.

The victim suffered serious injuries to his head, chest and back and was later taken to hospital.

A 31-year-old-man, from Congleton, has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and possession of a knife in a public place.

The force is asking anyone who might have information, as well as CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward, quoting incident 42 of 15 March.
