A man who stole more than £8,000 of computer equipment from schools across Coventry has been jailed.

Darren Reid, 50, was jailed for two years and eight months at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of a Class B drug.

West Midlands Police said his actions caused "significant disruption to the education of schoolchildren in Coventry".

On top of his jail sentence, Reid, of Longmeadow Crescent, Birmingham, was handed a criminal behaviour order which lasts until 2029.

It bans him from being within 50m of any school in England and Wales and will result in an immediate return to prison if he is found in breach of the order.
