Wedding-themed show garden wins gold at Chelsea

A show garden based on the theme of a wedding reception held at a family home has won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show for the Worcestershire woman who designed it.
Julia Mitchell, from GreenJJam Nurseries in Upton-upon-Severn, created the display for the prestigious RHS show based on the idea that the parents of the bride were hosting a wedding reception in their garden.
Her business specialises in white flowering plants, and she described the garden as "floaty and flowy" with tall spires and "very calm and peaceful".
Announcing her success on BBC Hereford and Worcester, Ms Mitchell said it was: "Gold, gold, gold!"
Ms Mitchell said it was the best white garden they had ever done.
The display at the entrance to the floral marquee, which was near the seating area, included plants of different heights that ranged from large shrubs, trees and perennial flowering plants.

"I was so nervous on the way this morning," she admitted, "but we just walked around the corner and saw it, and I was just really, really chuffed."
She said it had been months and even years of effort to try and get perfection with the display garden, and she was still in shock.
Describing how much the award meant, she said: "In the horticultural world, in the whole world, the kudos of getting a gold at Chelsea is phenomenal.
"It's just amazing. I'm so happy and so pleased that all the effort has really been worthwhile."
