A 15-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in a park.

West Midlands Police said he was attacked in Turnberry Park, off Turnberry Road in Great Barr, Sandwell, shortly after 16:00 GMT on Monday.

It said his injuries while serious were not believed to be life-threatening.

The force added it had extra officers on patrol in the area and it was talking to local schools.

"We know how much concern this incident has caused in the area," said Insp Claire Jones.

She urged anyone with information to get in touch.
