Jane Barnard denied the charge at Bristol Crown Court and faces trial in November

A woman has denied the manslaughter of a care home resident.

Jane Barnard, 66, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, where she pleaded not guilty to killing 75-year-old Derek Davies, who died on 8 September 2021.

Ms Barnard, of Longlevens, Gloucester, did not enter a plea to a second charge that she ill-treated or neglected Mr Davies between 5 - 9 September that year. She has been released on bail until a trial at Gloucester Crown Court on 24 November.

Gloucestershire Police previously confirmed that Ms Barnard had been working as a care worker at Wheatridge Court in Abbeydale, Gloucester, where Mr Davies was a resident.
