Adult gaming centre resubmits application for shop
An adult gaming centre has resubmitted an application to expand its shop despite opposition from politicians earlier this year.
Ticketgrange Limited, which owns New Horizon Amusements at 26 Bridge Street in Peterborough, applied to expand its unit last year into the adjoining 28-30 Bridge Street, which was last occupied by The Works.
Peterborough city councillors rejected the plan in September but proposals were resubmitted on 23 December.
Ticketgrange argues that the expansion will bring the vacant unit back to life.
Brown & Co, on behalf of the company, wrote in the application: "The new proposal submits a new shopfront design which mirrors the existing to alleviate the concerns and propose a suitable design on Bridge Street.
"The window display is proposed to match the existing."
The company's planning statement also read: "The application would reinstate a vacancy which would lead to enhanced vitality and vibrancy in the area."
It has also submitted an application for one externally illuminated New Horizon fascia sign, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
Earlier this year, former Peterborough Conservative MP Paul Bristow said the original plans could have "potentially devastating consequences".
Labour MP Andrew Pakes had said: "No more gambling shops – it is time to stop the rot and take back control of our city centre."
