A 17-year-old boy and a man have appeared in court after a 15-year-old boy was shot in Cardiff.

The boy, who cannot be identified because of his age, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court charged with owning a firearm with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

Ashley Fernando Corbin, 20, from Bristol, also appeared charged with conspiracy to have a firearm with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Neither of the defendants entered a plea. The boy was remanded in youth detention while Mr Corbin was remanded in custody.

South Wales Police said Mr Corbin, of no fixed abode, was arrested in the Bristol area on 16 June.

It followed an incident in Clos Y Ffynnon, Pontprennau, Cardiff, where a 15-year-old boy was shot on 7 June.

The boy was taken to hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The force said it had arrested four other people in connection with the incident.

The 17-year-old defendant will next appear in Cardiff Crown Court on 18 July.
