A man from South Gloucestershire has received a football banning order that prevents him from attending any UK football match for three years.

Mackenzie Bailey, 18, from Yate, was among the crowd of Bristol City fans who descended on Cardiff city centre ahead of a match versus Cardiff City on 15 February.

He was seen by officers throwing a can of alcohol at the O'Neill's public house on Wood Street.

Bailey was subsequently arrested for a Section 4 Public Order.

The banning order prevents Bailey from entering any premises in the UK for the purpose of attending any football matches.

When matches are played outside the UK, he must report to a named police station and surrender his passport.

'Won't be tolerated'

PC Simon Chivers, from South Wales Police, said: "Whenever there is evidence of football-related disorder we always pursue those responsible in order that appropriate action is taken.

"The vast majority of football fans behave respectfully - it is individuals like this who give football fans and their clubs a bad name.

"There is no place for it and it won't be tolerated."

In addition to the banning order, Bailey was given a £500 fine and ordered to pay £85 cost and a £200 surcharge.
