A hospice boss has praised his team for keeping high standards despite demand for services increasing "significantly" in 2024.

Rob Jones, chief executive of Les Bourgs Hospice in St Andrew, issued a thank you message praising the staff, volunteers and other people who supported the charity throughout the last year.

He said over the last 12 months, "high standards" had been maintained by everyone at the hospice with new staff brought in to meet the needs of patients.

Mr Jones said this had helped the people who needed the charity's services and also provided comfort and benefit to friends and relatives of patients who received end of life care.

Mr Jones said: "This year in particular we have seen the demand for our services increase significantly and the complexity of care rise.

"We have also seen younger people with young families spend their last days and weeks cared for by our nursing team.

"The response from our team has been fantastic."
