Two men charged after girl injured in hit-and-run

Two men have been charged after a teenager suffered serious leg injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Birmingham.

Officers were called to reports a 17-year-old girl had been struck by a car on Oldknow Road, in Small Heath, at about 15:00 BST on 25 June.

The teenager suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital where she is still receiving treatment, West Midlands Police said.

"We would especially like to hear from anyone who saw a silver Mercedes C300 and a black BMW 1-Series being driven in the area around the time of the incident," a force spokesperson said.

Mohammed Amir, 30, from Sheldon, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance, officers said.

He has also been charged with failing to stop and was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance in court.

Farhaad Sajid, 20, from Hall Green, was also charged with dangerous driving and was released on conditional bail, the force added.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to come forward.
