Council 'saddened' as company ceases trading
The Jersey Construction Council has said it was "deeply saddened" after another construction company ceased trading.
K-land Construction announced it was going into liquidation at the end of December, apologising "for any distress that this news might cause". The company has been contacted for comment.
Three building companies ceased trading in July 2024 and Mitchell Building Contractors closed in October - citing "spiralling costs" as a factor.
Chairman Adrian De Gruchy said he was concerned about the impact on staff, sub-contractors and suppliers.
'Nightmare'
He added that although there had been recent closures, the industry still had "a wide range of professional tradespeople, associated suppliers and consultants, with good long term career prospects".
One K-Land Construction team member told the BBC staff were "going through a nightmare, as this change happened without any notice".
"People still have bills to pay, and as we all know, living in Jersey isn't cheap," they said.
