A falconry in Ashford which was broken into and damaged by thieves at the weekend has described it as "heartbreaking".

Wide Eyes Falconry CIC, which houses more than 30 birds of prey, said they had "everything of value" stolen.

Thieves entered the address at Evegate Business Park on Station Road in Smeeth sometime between Saturday and Monday afternoon, taking power tools and other items.

A classroom at the property, where children are taught about nature and wildlife, was also believed to have been vandalised.

A statement from Kent Police said: "The burglary took place between 15:00 GMT on Saturday, 11 January and 15:00 GMT on Monday, 13 January 2025.

"Officers have attended and an investigation is ongoing."

The force has appealed for anyone who might have any information about the break-in, or CCTV or dashcam footage which may prove useful, to get in contact.

In the meantime, supporters of Wide Eyes Falconry CIC, which also offers archery and axe throwing, have launched a GoFundMe page with £8,000 target to help it recoup its losses.
