Scottish Green co-leader Patrick Harvie is to take time off from Holyrood due to a planned medical procedure.

The MSP's recovery is expected to last at least six weeks. It is understood he may work remotely for a period before returning to parliament.

A Scottish Greens spokesperson wished him a "fast and full recovery".

The party said his regional office would continue to support constituents, and party responsibilities would be shared among his colleagues at Holyrood.

The spokesperson added: "We look forward to welcoming him back to parliament in the months ahead."

Harvie, along with Greens co-leader Lorna Slater, was a Scottish government minister between August 2021 and April 2024.

His stint in government ended when the Humza Yousaf's SNP administration tore up its power-sharing agreement with the Greens.
