A 39-year-old man has died after a collision which shut a major A-road for more than 12 hours.

Emergency services were called to the A303 bypass in Mere, Wiltshire, on Monday at about 23:00 BST but the man died at the scene.

Wiltshire Police closed the road - between West Knoyle in Wiltshire and Bourton in north Dorset - until midday on Tuesday.

The force has asked anyone who has information relating to the incident to come forward.

The man's next of kin has been informed and officers are supporting them.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
