Flooding has been a theme for many communities across Somerset this week thanks to Storm Herminia.

A spooky play has been entertaining audiences at the Theatre Royal in Bath, and towards the end of the week, the sun made a welcome appearance.

There have also been some important anniversaries for NHS staff in the county.

After dark: Ghost Stories comes to the end of its run at the Theatre Royal Bath tonight, after making audiences jump this week. The play has been described as "a truly terrifying theatrical experience".

Music makers: Pop giants Coldplay have made it possible for young Somerset musicians to record their own tracks. The band allowed signed merchandise to be sold in aid of Young People Frome, which used the money to let budding musicians have time at the Cheese and Grain studio.

Wet week: Flood water damaged two bungalows and the main visitor centre at World Horse Welfare's Glenda Spooner Farm, near Somerton. While the horses are "doing well", the charity said water continues to run through the fields where about 90 of its horses graze.

VIP: The crew of RNLI Weston-super-Mare welcomed the High Sheriff of Somerset, Rob Beckley, and his wife Sue to the station on Weston's promenade on Sunday.

The plan had been to show Rob and Sue a low water launch, but the winds were too strong, so instead Mr Beckley met members of the crew as they checked their equipment and boats.

Sunny skies: Towards the end of the week the weather calmed down and familiar sites such as Glastonbury Tor (above) were bathed in sunshine.

Congratulations: Long-serving facilities manager at Musgrove Park Hospital, Steve Watts, has retired from the NHS. "I transferred to Musgrove as a kitchen porter in December 1981 and stayed in there for a couple of years," he said. "I've been in that department ever since."

Celebrations: Current and former colleagues got together to mark the 10th anniversary of Bridgwater Community Hospital, which is run by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
