A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a town centre bar fire.

The blaze took place at Eskimo Joe's on Victoria Road in Hartlepool on 14 April.

The teenager, who was taken into custody on Wednesday morning to be questioned, is the sixth person to be arrested.

Three boys aged 11, 14 and 15 were held on suspicion of arson shortly after the fire, and two 13-year-olds were arrested the following day for the same reason.

They have been released on bail while the investigation continues, Cleveland Police said.

No-one was injured in the fire, which broke out shortly before 17:30 BST, but the building was severely damaged and further damage was caused to the premises next door.

The force is asking anyone with information about the fire to come forward.
