All primary school children in Jersey will be given a badge commemorating the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.

Issued by the Bailiff's Chambers, the design was based on the stories of islander Enid de Gruchy who was four years old when Jersey was liberated in 1945.

The image depicts her memory of going into St Helier on Liberation Day with her family and a soldier giving her a sweet to try for the first time.

A limited number of the badges will also be available to purchase from parish halls from 22 April, with proceeds going to Age Concern Jersey.

Mrs de Gruchy was born on 28 February 1941 and died in 2024.

The Bailiff's Chambers said: "It was felt to be fitting to keep the legacy of her story alive in this year's logo."
