The States of Guernsey has released the timetable for its Liberation Day free bus service.

The 80th anniversary of Liberation Day will be celebrated on 9 May, including events in St Peter Port, a military vehicle cavalcade and celebrations in parishes.

Free buses running a Saturday timetable will be available throughout the day and into the evening.

The States expects the service to be popular and said people should plan journeys in advance as buses could be at capacity during peak times.

It also encouraged people to plan their day using its Liberation Day website which includes timetables of events and a map of the cavalcade route.

St Peter Port's bus terminus will be relocated at White Rock as the main terminus will be inside the pedestrianised zone.

People travelling into St Peter Port were asked to consider getting off the bus a stop early to help relieve congestion for busses and passengers.

An additional pre-booked free night bus service has been organised to run from L'Eree hotel in St Peter's at 23:11 BST to various locations in the island.

The States said tickets for the L'Eree night bus are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
