A man has been arrested after three men were taken to hospital following an assault in Derby, police have said.

Officers said the trio were walking along Willow Row, next to Joseph Wright College, when they were allegedly approached by a large group of men and assaulted on Sunday at about 01:00 GMT.

Their injuries were not life threatening, but they all required hospital treatment, the force added.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail pending further inquiries.

The force said it was appealing for witnesses, and did not have any descriptions of the group of men at this time.
