A delivery driver's van was seized by police after it was found to not have insurance to cover its journey, officers said.

Bedfordshire Police apologised on Facebook for subsequent delays to parcel deliveries, after officers took action on the A5 Northern Bypass, near Dunstable, Bedfordshire.

Leighton Buzzard Community Policing Team said the driver "will have to find a legal way to complete the deliveries" and had been reported for the offence.

The parcels, several of which featured Amazon branding, were removed from the vehicle and placed by the side of the road.

A spokesman for Amazon said the company was investigating the incident.

He added: "We have very high standards for our delivery service providers."
