More than 50 job losses confirmed at pie factory

More than 50 people have lost their jobs at a pie factory due to "changing demand" in the industry.
The Compleat Food Group, which owns Wrights Food Group in Crewe, Cheshire, confirmed between 50 and 60 workers were let go after a review of the site.
The majority of the redundancies were voluntary, the company confirmed, and positions at the group's other sites were offered to some of the workers affected.
A spokesperson for the firm said the decision was linked to a competitive trading environment.
A spokesperson said: "Following a comprehensive review of the volume at our Crewe site, some redundancies have been made. The majority were voluntary redundancies.
"The review was required due to changing demand in a competitive trading environment and to ensure we can continue to support the long-term sustainable future of the site."
They said the company worked closely with employees who were affected and met with them individually to offer support.
