Two arrested over attempted murder of man

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the assault of a man in County Londonderry.

The attack happened in Benevenagh Drive in Limavady at about 17:15 BST on Friday.

Police and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service personnel went the scene and found the victim covered in blood with a serious head injury and suspected stab wounds to his torso.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital and is in critical condition.

Two men, aged 32 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other offences. They remain in custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Benevenagh Drive area on Friday, and noticed anything unusual to contact them.
