A man has been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Birmingham more than two years ago.

Sekou Doucoure was attacked on Nursery Road on 12 July 2022 and died at the scene.

Ishmael Farquharson, who had been previously named as someone sought by police to help with inquiries, was arrested in Spain by the National Crime Agency on Wednesday, the West Midlands force said.

The 33-year-old, of Porchester Drive, Birmingham, will appear at the city's crown court on Friday for a plea and trial hearing.

Mr Farquharson has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Sekou, a former player for Nottingham Forest FC, was previously described by his mother as a "hardworking, kind and respectful boy" who loved playing football.
