Teenage boy found seriously injured in street
Police are appealing for information after a teenager was found seriously injured in Barrhead on New Year's Day.
Officers received a report that a 15-year-old boy on an electric bike had been found injured on the East Renfrewshire town's Aurs Drive at 22:55.
Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as serious.
The road is closed between the junctions of Arthurlie Street and Kelvin Drive and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
Police Scotland's Det Insp Ross Jamieson said officers were remaining at the scene to investigate.
"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have information which could assist us to get in touch," he said.
"I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us."
