A former working men's club is to become seven homes after plans were approved.

The proposals to turn former club The George Duke into four town houses and three flats were approved by Bradford Council on Thursday.

In the supporting document, planning officer Hannah Cook said permission had previously been granted to build homes on the land in East Bowling.

She said: "The plans would utilise existing building stock and bring a vacant building and site back into a viable use."

Only one objection was submitted to the proposals for the homes off Paley Terrace.

The original proposal was for four town houses and four flats, but this was reduced to three due to amenity concerns.

The town houses will all comprise three bedrooms and a bathroom and include driveways with one parking space and an electric vehicle charging point.

In the original application, surveyor J A Oldroyd said the units would fit in well in the mainly residential area.

They said: "The units fit in well and do not over dominate their surroundings. The plots have ample garden/amenity space with new drives and parking spaces serving all dwellings."
