Man who tried to arrange child sex abuse jailed
A man who was found with cable ties, handcuffs and a whip in his car has been jailed for 32 months for trying to arrange sexual activity with a child.
Julian Davis, 62, of Langdale Road, Stourport, who was sentenced on Monday, was found guilty of the offence at an earlier hearing at Worcester Crown Court.
After the hearing, Det Con Richard Britton, from West Mercia Police, said Davis was arrested following intelligence about what he was trying to do.
"What we found in his car was alarming and showed his sickening intentions," he said.
Det Con Britton, from the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: "Fortunately, on this occasion we were able to stop an offender before they could abuse a child."
Police said items found in Davis's car, after his arrest on 4 December, also included lubricant, amphetamine drugs, Viagra and baby wipes, as well as mobile phones, which were seized and downloaded.
Davis was also convicted of possession of the Class B drug, amphetamine, and trying to engage in sexual communication with a child.
On top of his 32-month jail term, he was given a lifetime sexual harm prevention order, ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, and was ordered to pay £150 costs.
