Van driver in his 20s dies in motorway crash

A man in his 20s died in a crash that closed a section of a motorway for several hours, police said.

Emergency services were called to the southbound M1 between junctions 15 near Northampton and 14 for Milton Keynes at about 17:45 BST on Saturday.

Northamptonshire Police said a Vauxhall Combi van was involved in a single-vehicle collision and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have seen the van before the incident to get in touch.

The southbound carriageway remained closed between the two junctions until about midnight.
