A police hunt is under way after a 12-year-old boy was stabbed in Birmingham.

The victim was attacked in Hall Green, at about 15:15 GMT, prompting West Midlands Police to appeal for information to find the perpetrator.

The force has urged any witnesses who were in the area close to Scribers Lane, to contact them.

Officers are urgently reviewing CCTV from the area "as we work to understand what happened and why, and who was responsible".

Det Insp Joe Davenport, from the force's major crime unit, said: "If you were in the area at the time and saw what happened, or think you may have captured any part of what happened on dashcam or mobile phone, it's vital you get in touch... as soon as possible."
