The M8 has fully reopened after police received a report of a man with a possible weapon.

Officers temporarily shut the motorway at junction six eastbound for Newhouse and Chapelhall, North Lanarkshire, after receiving the call about 08:55.

The M8 slip road at Junction 6A on the A8 eastbound at the Eurocentral industrial estate remained closed for much of the day but reopened at about 16:30.

Police Scotland said specialist officers had been sent to the area as a precaution to allow a search to be carried out.
