Methodist church to become four-bed home
A former North Lincolnshire church dating back to 1882 is to be converted into a home.
Ealand Methodist Church closed in 2021 when dwindling congregation numbers made it not economically viable to continue to run it.
The building was put up for sale in spring 2023 and sold at auction for £202,000 after being marketed for "multiple imaginative new uses" including as residential housing.
A couple's application to convert it into a four-bed home has been approved by North Lincolnshire Council.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a council officer viewed the loss of a community facility as not being an issue due to the length of time it had been closed.
Crowle Methodist Church is also located less than two miles away.
In the planning application, Airedale Architects said the proposal was to "sympathetically" convert the main building into a two-storey home with "minimal alterations".
