The latest inspection report found people received care and support from staff who were kind and compassionate.

A care home which was put into special measures over concerns about residents' safety and ineffective leadership has now been rated good.

Allerton Park Care Centre, in Oaks Lane, Bradford, was rated as "inadequate" by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2023.

However, following its latest inspection, inspectors have updated its rating to good and removed it from special measures.

Sheila Grant, CQC deputy director of operations in the north, said: "Staff and leaders at Allerton Park Care Centre should be proud of the improvements they have made to improve their standard of care."

'Lessons learnt'

The inspectorate had previously found the home, which caters for people who have mental health needs or live with dementia, had put people at risk of "being malnourished" and was "tired, not well-maintained and unclean".

Inspectors also found people were at risk of harm as the provider had not "identified, assessed or mitigated risks".

However, following an inspection last October and November, Ms Grant said "a significant amount of improvements had been made" and residents were "receiving a much higher quality of care".

She said: "The service had built good relationships within the local community, including with a school which had recently visited the home and brought flowers for people living there.

"Also, visits were arranged for people to go to a local community centre and community café to give them the opportunity to get out and meet other people."

She said staff and leaders "worked well with partner organisations" and "lessons were learnt and shared with staff to keep people safe".
