Plans to refurbish ageing pavilion submitted
Plans to transform an ageing sports pavilion in a Lincolnshire village into a community venue have been submitted.
The building on Ruskington playing fields had been used by residents for more than 40 years, but is in need of renovation and refurbishment, officials said.
Ruskington Parish Council said it wanted to see the pavilion become a "central hub and meeting place".
As well as the refurbishment, the plans include a café and disabled facilities.
The building was previously used as a children's nursery, sports pavilion, village hall, and temporary scout hut.
However, in a planning application, council clerk Kathryn Locke wrote: "The building requires renovation and refurbishment to ensure it remains in use as a viable community venue.
"With housing development increasingly encroaching on the perimeter of the playing fields, the sports facilities, play area, and proposed café will become a central hub and meeting place for residents and visitors to the village."
According to the application, the proposed changes would provide an income to ensure the sports facilities and pavilion remained viable.
The application also includes plans to create an overflow car park on the playing fields to prevent visitors from parking on nearby roads, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The plans have been submitted to North Kesteven District Council for approval.
