Man shot in chest with air weapon

A man has been injured after he was shot with an air weapon.

Suffolk Police was called to Granary Road, Newmarket, by the ambulance service at 06:35 BST following reports the man in his 30s had been shot in the chest.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to hospital but his injuries are not considered to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A 56-year-old man was arrested in Kentford on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and driving while under the influence of alcohol having failed a roadside breath test. Police said it was believed both men were known to each other.
