Police are investigating whether a fire attack on a cab company in Glasgow is connected to a gang feud.

Officers have launched a probe into the incident at the private hire office on Cumbernauld Road in Stepps just before 02:00 on Thursday.

It comes after a man was arrested in the Leith area of Edinburgh on Wednesday, thought to be linked to the same investigation.

The 27-year-old was stopped in a car on Salamander Street at about 15:30 and was later charged with a number of offences. He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

No one was injured in the fire and it was extinguished by emergency crews a short time later.

It could be the latest in a series of wilful fire-raising incidents thought to be linked to groups targeting each other in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

There have now been 27 arrests in connection with a series of firebombing attacks, assaults and reports of shots being fired in the two cities since March.
