Man charged over assault at trans rights rally

A man has been charged by officers investigating a report two people were assaulted at a trans rights rally in Birmingham.
Kyle Jollys, 32, was charged with assault following a claim a number of people were pushed and spat at in New Street on Saturday, West Midlands Police said.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Officers looking into the incident have asked witnesses who saw what happened or anyone with further information to get in contact.
The rally - one of two in the city on Saturday - was taking place in response to the Supreme Court's recent decision over the legal definition of a woman under equalities law.
